Testing Your Applications

Regular end users can't share location with your application until your app has been certified. Read on for how to test your application in the meantime.

Testing Freedom Mode

The best way to test free access to smartphone location is to whitelist your own smartphones as test devices.

You can whitelist up to 15 smartphones. These Veriplace users will be allowed to share their location with your application, even if your application hasn't been certified yet.

Note: If you don't have access to a smartphone or are just getting started, we suggest testing using professional location access with simulated users, as described below.

Testing Professional Location Access

As described in the Developer Guide, Area Mode and Zoom Mode provide access to more phones than just smartphones. You have two options for testing these modes.

First, you can whitelist up to 15 of your own phones. These Veriplace users will be allowed to share their location with your application, even if your application hasn't been certified yet. Because professional location access costs money, you'll need to deposit money in your billing account to locate these whitelisted phones.

Second, we provide every developer account with a handful of simulated users. These are users you can use to test your application, the APIs, and the end user experience. Locating simulated users is free.
