This tutorial will show you how to enable Developer Mode on your phone.

  1. Step 1: View Real Phones

Sign-in to your Developer Portal account, go to My Projects and click on the Test Phones subtab. Click on the Real Phones link in the side navigation provided.

  2. Step 2: Add a phone number

Click on the Add a Phone Number link.

When prompted, enter the phone number of your device and click on the Save button. It must be a supported Veriplace device, for example, a smartphone or any Sprint phone.

As of September 2009, any Sprint phone, GPS-capable Windows smartphone, or GPS-capable BlackBerry can be placed into developer mode. See the Developer Portal for an updated list of devices which can be placed into developer mode.

  3. Step 3: Register as a Veriplace user

Go to the Privacy Manager registration page. You can also register as part of the User Discovery API redirect from your application (or from Token Test).

Registration will generally follow the same set of steps, although it does vary for different types of supported devices:

    1. Enter your phone number
    2. Identify your carrier and phone type (e.g. Sprint BlackBerry)
    3. Accept the Veriplace Terms of Service
    4. Prove that the phone is yours by receiving a text message
    5. Select a secure password for your user account
  4. Step 4: Enable Developer Mode

If you enter the phone number you added during Step 2 of this tutorial, you will be asked whether you want to sign up in Developer Mode. Select Yes, sign up in Developer Mode and click on the Save button.

  5. Step 5: Toggle Developer Mode

You can toggle your Developer Mode setting in the Privacy Manager after signing in.

Click on the Account Settings link at the top right corner of the page. Under Advanced Settings, click on the Developer Mode link towards the bottom of the page.
