Use the Privacy Manager
Getting Started
Use the Privacy Manager (back to all tutorials)
Veriplace users can use the Privacy Manager to review their location history, change account settings, and manage their privacy.
-
Step 1: Sign in to the Privacy Manager
Go to the Privacy Manager sign in page and enter the phone number and password of your simulated user.
Veriplace keeps users signed in for a few minutes at time; you will not be asked to sign in if your previous login is still valid.
-
Step 2: Review your last known location
The signed-in landing page of the Privacy Manager shows a map of the last known location of the user.
The sidebar under Who Can Locate Me?, shows all of the applications you opt-in to, including your own.
When signed-in you can change your password among other things. Simply click on the Account Settings link provided at the top right corner of the page.
Some options in Account Settings are not available to simulated users.
-
Step 3: Review your privacy settings
To review how a location is being shared, click on your application in the sidebar navigation provided.
In the detail page of the application, click on the Settings button to review and/or change the opt-in settings.
If you revoke an opt-in, your application will need to get the user to opt-in again before requesting another location.
-
Step 4: Review your location history
In the sidebar under My Privacy, click on the My Location History link to see a record of every time that location was shared. There should be an entry showing a location was shared with your application (from using Token Test).
Toggle the Where I've been checkbox to see a record of every time the user was located. There should be an entry showing the location of the user was when your application located them.
Where I've been shows each time the user was located. When my location was shared shows when a user's location was shared with an application.
It's possible for the same location to be shared with multiple applications. Based on the privacy preferences of a user, it is also possible for the true location to be obfuscated before being shared.
Most importantly, records of where a user was located may be deleted at any time and will automatically expire after a few hours or days. However, to provide complete transparency, records of when a location was shared with an application is never deleted.

Step 5: Done
Congratulations! You're ready to start locating real users.
